Easy To Install
Banana plugs make installing speakers much easier. Instead of unscrewing the connectors in the back of your receiver and wrapping the speaker conductor around those screws, utilize the banana plug holes with these banana plugs.
Attaching the banana plug to the speaker itself is easy. These open faced banana plugs allow you to simply feed some of the bare copper conductor into the hole and clamp it down with the screw.
Daisy Chain
Each banana plug also features a female banana plug connection on the bottom, allowing you to connect multiple speakers from a single speaker output. This serves as a splitter, allowing you to mirror the sound as many times as necessary.

Stop looking and get these. What's really funny is you can get ones similar to this for $.01 from other vendors, but then they ding you $5 per plug for shipping (no, not per shipment or per pair, per plug). The photos are accurate. The base and the tip are screws, so maybe they make smaller tips? Regardless, they don't come loose. I guess you can feed skinny wire through the bottom like the picture shows, but I used the hole in the side for my 12 gauge wire. It fit with no problems and I snipped off the excess after screwing it down. My receiver is more suited to the skinny tips, but I was able to make these fit with no real problems. They can make a good connection, however you should use 12 Gauge speaker wire. I used 16 Gauge and it was O.K. but I had to fold the wire and twist it. This made a good connection difficult on the first few attempts. Practice does help as the last few I made were much better than the first attempts. If you use 12 Guage speaker wire I would think it would be very easy to get a very tight connection. Now that being said, I have a new Yamaha Reciever and Polk Series 2 40 monitors for my front speakers and Polk Monitor 2 series 30 monitors for my rear and a Polk CS-10 center channel. All of the speakers are wired with these Bannana Plugs. The Reciever is not(I'm waiting for some 12 gauge wire before I pull out the Reciever and rewire the whole system.)Now that being said I personally do not see any advantage sound wise in using these plugs or any others for that matter. I had to move my 5:1 wires around after I bought a new receiver as the cables were not labeled and it has been 10 years since initial installation. Of course when I wired my speakers, they were crossed (right/left, center) and also out of phase, it was effortless to just move them around, if I had to wired it in, it would have taken me a very long and frustrated time to do this. I give it 4 stars only because it is bit cheaper quality then other brands, you need to make sure your wire is long enough to thread in and bend over and tighten it down, make sure you also tighten the top piece as it is also screwed in and it can be loose and cause intermittent connection. |
